In certain bars and clubs, especially on Walking Street (Pattaya), Bangla Road (Phuket), and around Khao San Road (Bangkok), drinks may be spiked with additional alcohol, sedatives, or other substances to disorient you, making you more vulnerable to theft or inflated bills. Meanwhile, bartenders may add drinks to your tab that you did not order — 'lady drinks' bought by bar staff on your tab, duplicate orders, or round-ups. If you are disoriented, you will not notice the inflated bill. In serious cases, drink spiking leads to robbery while the victim is incapacitated.
