Ping-pong show / bar bill scam

On Patpong Night Market (Bangkok), Walking Street (Pattaya), and Bangla Road (Phuket), touts on the street promise 'free ping-pong show' or 'one drink 100 THB.' Once inside, you are taken upstairs to a private area. Without you realizing, the bar adds charges for each 'act,' every drink ordered (including drinks 'bought' for staff), a cover charge, and a 'show fee.' The bill can reach 5,000-20,000 THB per person. Large, intimidating staff block the exit and pressure you to pay. Some places take your credit card and add extra charges. Refusing to pay can lead to physical intimidation. Police rarely intervene as many of these bars operate with local protection.
